Message from the PAC3 Board of Directors The Board of Directors was pleased to release PAC³’s First Annual Report at the May 18 Annual Meeting of the Membership. The report contains a somewhat detailed history of PAC³ since inception and outlines our many accomplishments and the ongoing vision of our organization. Though that report is little more than a month old, it is already outdated because PAC³ is continually moving forward in its work of implementation! Implementation Efforts Yielding Success for PAC³ and Pennsylvania! The PAC³ Implementation Teams recently completed their fifth face-to-face meeting since their inaugural meeting in December 2004. Thus far in 2006, the Teams met in February and May in Harrisburg. The next meeting of the teams will be in the Fall of 2006 (date to be announced soon!) in State College where Teams will continue to work on activities to implement their Action Plans. We anticipate that the meeting will include a general session and individual team meetings. Positive feedback from attendees confirms that the general session enables greater cross-communication among the Teams to facilitate development of collaborative opportunities, identify possible resources, and eliminate potential duplication of efforts. With the next implementation teams meeting scheduled to be in State College, we hope to continue and increase the ongoing presence of core Team members, facilitate wider attendance from more rural areas, and encourage new attendees. PAC³ members have shown continued support and dedication to the work of reducing the cancer burden in Pennsylvania through implementation of the Pennsylvania Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan. Team minutes from past meetings can be found on each Team's Webpage, found on the Plan Implementation section of the PAC³ website. If you want to learn more about the Teams’ prioritized goals and objectives, please view the Action Plans. Throughout Pennsylvania, the work of the PAC³ Implementation Teams is being noticed. For updates on the successful work of the Teams, please read the articles linked below. It’s never too late to become involved! If you, a colleague, friend or family member are interested in cancer control, please consider joining PAC³. Please Click Here to complete a new member form. If you are aware of potential resources (collaborators, grant opportunities, possible sponsors, or funding) to aid Teams’ implementation efforts, please contact the Coordinating Office.
May 2006 PAC³ Events Bring Members Together PAC³ hosted several meeting opportunities for its members in May, including an Implementation Team Work Session, Annual Dinner/Business Meeting of the Membership, and the Second Annual PAC³ Summit. These events took place at the Crowne Plaza in Harrisburg on May 18 and 19, 2006. The Implementation Team Work Session, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Division of the American Cancer Society, was held on May 18 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and provided Teams an opportunity to continue working on strategies to implement their Action Plans. Due to the abbreviated nature of this meeting, Teams met individually only and did not join for a plenary session. A total of 41 individuals attended the meetings and represented 20 different organizations statewide. Minutes from each of the Team’s meetings are available on each Team's Webpage, found on the Plan Implementation section of the PAC³ website. Shortly following the Implementation Team Work Session, members were encouraged to attend PAC³’s Annual Dinner and Meeting of the Membership beginning at 5:30 p.m. Members met together for dinner and networking time followed by reports from several members of the PAC³ Board of Directors and Coordinating Office staff. The presentations offered information about the past, present, and future work of the consortium, and the Board of Directors also provided each attendee with PAC³’s First Annual Report. Following the meeting, attendees were invited to enjoy dessert and additional time meet with fellow members. PAC3 would like to welcome some our most recent New Members:
